New workspaces have left behind traditional rigidity and hierarchy. Today, they are conceived as open, flexible, and collaborative environments designed to foster creativity and communication. Mobility, technology, and well-being are integrated into their design, boosting productivity through comfort. More than just offices, they are places where ideas flow and people connect.
Megablok supports companies in this workplace transformation with technological equipment that generates differential added value.
From operational offices to talent hubs
Megablok participated in a roundtable discussion organized by HOY Aragón, which also included representatives from CBRE, Torres Oficinas, and Adecco, reflecting on the transformation of workspaces in the era of remote working and hybrid models.
It became clear that the office is no longer simply a place to perform tasks: it must attract talent, strengthen corporate culture, and generate feelings of well-being. Herminia Lombarte (Adecco) pointed out that the office has to be “a center for connecting talent and corporate culture,” not merely a functional, operational space.
Likewise, Lola Hernández, Head of Business Development at CBRE, insisted that employee well-being is becoming a priority, and that the space should be used for mentoring and professional development, not just for “clocking in.”
For Megablok, as a technological player in this equation, the implications are very concrete. Our sales and marketing director, Juan Valle, emphasized that, although many tasks can be done remotely, human contact remains essential: “We are still social beings, we need contact,” warning also that technology is not enough if it is not accompanied by a strategy: “having smart lockers or chatbots without a clear organizational vision is useless.”
Trends in new workspaces
This debate also addressed relevant aspects of new workspaces and emerging trends such as:
- Hot desking or non-fixed workstations: workers do not have a permanently assigned workspace, but reserve one when they need it. This promotes flexibility, although it can cause resistance among those who prefer a fixed space with their belongings.
- Flexible areas and multipurpose rooms: spaces that can be converted into offices, meeting rooms, break areas, “offices” turned into meeting rooms, etc.
- Well-being as the focus of design: factors such as ergonomics, natural lighting, and noise control play a decisive role in productivity. Concepts such as well-being, flexibility, and humanization are no longer luxuries but have become essential components for people to perform well at work.
- Technology integrated into the infrastructure: automation of lighting or air conditioning, artificial intelligence that anticipates needs, sensors that “listen” to what is happening in the space. This is where the role of technology providers such as Megablok, with its Community Locker line of smart lockers, takes on greater meaning: offering not only devices, but invisible integrations that “merge” with the human experience.
Megablok as a strategic ally in the 21st-century office
Megablok is therefore positioned as a key player in this transition: not only as a supplier of equipment, but also as a strategic partner for incorporating technology that enhances culture, well-being, and efficiency within new workspaces.
The challenge for the offices of the future is not just to reinvent furniture or physical layouts, but to rebuild the relationship between people, corporate culture, and technology.
IFMA Spain Workplace Summit
A few days ago, our company attended a new edition of the IFMA Spain Workplace Summit in Madrid, the leading forum on workplace and facility management in our country.
Under the title “Beyond the Office,” the event explored how FM adds value in various environments to position itself at the forefront of comprehensive space management that connects technological innovation and sustainability with critical infrastructure and people’s well-being, in line with everything mentioned above.
