On several occasions we have talked about the properties and types of lockers for schools, institutes and other educational centers. But this time we will take a different perspective, since we will start from the specific location where the lockers could be located and then explain which is the most suitable for each place. Finally, we will bring you an extra point to finish conditioning your educational center in a perfect way.

Optimal school lockers according to their location

A school, institute or university, as a complex building, is composed of very diverse areas in which to carry out its activities, from the classrooms themselves, to changing rooms, playgrounds, kitchen areas, common areas, etcetera.

Well, each of these areas has different properties and a different influx of people, so the lockers should not be the same in all cases. We will now explain which school lockers are best suited to each area of a school.

1- Corridors and other high traffic common areas

Recommended locker: Metal lockers

Explanation: The hallways and common areas of a school are places of constant passage of students, teachers and other campus workers. Therefore, these areas are more subject than others to possible damage, bumps, dirt and other aspects that can damage the lockers. For these reasons, for these locations we recommend our metal lockers (blue lockers or any other color), which offer the best economy-durability ratio.

2- Meeting room, teachers’ lounges, assembly hall and classrooms

Recommended locker: Melamine lockers

Explanation: With these locations we are talking about less crowded, generally quieter places, where the chances of physical damage to the lockers decrease. For this reason, we recommend lockers with a similar strength to metal lockers but with a higher design value, in other words, melamine lockers “dress up”, making them the perfect alternative for locations in the center that are more exclusive than the corridors or common areas.

3- Gymnasium and locker room area

Recommended locker: Phenolic lockers

Explanation: The gymnasium and locker room area of a school are places with higher humidity than the rest of the spaces in the center, so the characteristics of the lockers must be adapted to this particular environment. That is why in this case we recommend phenolic lockers, lockers made of water-repellent material that resists moisture and steam very well, have zero porosity and are also fireproof lockers. In addition, they are made with easily disinfectable antibacterial material. Undoubtedly the most suitable option for areas with humidity.

4- Classrooms and teachers’ offices

Recommended locker: Electronic lockers

Explanation: Although we have seen before that melamine lockers are suitable for these places, if we want to go a step further, we can add a complementary element to them, such as electronic device charging lockers (charging carts and charging boxes). These are lockers for schools in which to store both cell phones and portable devices (computers or tablets), while they are safely guarded inside them. In this way, both teachers and students have a safe place to charge their devices, as well as avoiding distractions during lessons, for example.

5- School cafeteria

In this case we are not going to propose lockers, but a type of furniture much more in line with this space, such as folding tables and benches.

That is why our recommended choice for this area of the school is melamine tables and benches, an economical and affordable alternative, easy to transport and offering high resistance and durability.

As we have seen, educational centers are places with spaces of very different characteristics, so the lockers for schools can not be similar in all cases, as it depends entirely on the place where they should be located.
